Sedation Dentistry
For those with fear or anxiety in visiting a dentist, we offer several sedation options to calm your fears: Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas, Oral Conscious Sedation, and Intravenous (IV) Sedation.
Please do not let fear or anxiety keep you from visiting the dentist and caring for your dental health.
- Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas. This conscious sedation relaxes patients while the dentist the necessary dental services. Patients inhale a combination of nitrous and oxygen through a small, light mask over the nose. The patient breathes in the gas, which induces a state of relaxation. The dentist administers local anesthetic in conjunction with nitrous oxide.
- Oral Conscious Sedation (sleep dentistry). This oral conscious sedation, “sleep dentistry,” uses medication to help patients relax during the dental procedure. The dentist prescribes an oral medication, and the dental procedure begins once the patient is relaxed. This option is excellent for patients who experience anxiety but do not require IV sedation.
- Intravenous Sedation (IV). IV sedation is for patients with extreme dental treatment anxiety. IV sedation has a faster onset and generally a 30-minute recovery. Only dentists with specialized training and experience may perform IV Sedation, including patient monitoring and advanced treatment. Due to the time of preparation for this procedure, a $150 deposit is required. Your deposit will be credited to your account after the procedure is completed.
